About Us

The Island Yacht Club, founded in 1936 is a small friendly Yacht Club on the eastern tip of Canvey Island, Essex in the Thames Estuary. A stones throw away from numerous East Coast Rivers, the River Medway and the very popular River Thames.

Open all year round, we offer visitors moorings at a very competitive rate. Visitors should contact the club in advance to enquire abut the availability of a berth (maximum 10 metres) Telephone 01268 510360. Please be advised that the berths do dry out which leaves soft mud. Water is available on the berths for general use and drinking water is available in the clubs compound. General provisions can be obtained from the local shop which is only a short walk away.

Our cruising members take part in both cruising and racing, and are regularly seen on the water participating in our planned events - see our sailing program or click on the sailing tab.

We have a very dedicated fleet of dinghy sailors, who can be seen racing every Sunday that the tide allows. We also host an annual open meeting for Hurricanes and fast catamarans, which is becoming more popular. For more information click on our Dinghy Section.

Both Cruising and Dinghy Members can store their Boats on our moorings or in our Dinghy Compound adjacent to the Club House.

Our Club House is second to none with panoramic views across the Estuary from Leigh on Sea to the Kent Coast. We have a Main Bar and Members Bar plus food available from the Galley. Please see Social Events for opening times.

There are numerous Social Events throughout the year that provides entertainment for all ages from formal Dinners to Family Disco's and BBQ's.

If you have an active interest in Sailing and would like further information regarding Membership or visiting the Island Yacht Club please contact newmembers@islandyachtclub.org.uk
